Weekly Pool Maintenance Checklist for Techs

Safety & Visual Inspection

  • Ensure gate access is clear and re-latch any locks
  • Check for pets or site-specific hazards
  • Look and listen for equipment issues (leaks, noises, burnt-out lights)
  • Take note of any broken hardware, trip hazards, or client concerns

Skimming & Surface Cleaning

  • Skim leaves and debris from the surface
  • Empty skimmer baskets and leaf traps
  • Remove any toys or large debris manually

Water Chemistry & Testing

  • Test chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, cyanuric acid, and calcium hardness
  • Log all chemical readings (paper route sheet or digital system)
  • Add chemicals based on readings (chlorine, acid, bicarb, conditioner, etc.)
  • Ensure chemicals are safely stored and labeled in your vehicle

Brushing & Vacuuming

  • Brush walls, steps, benches, and tile line
  • Manually vacuum or check function of automatic cleaner
  • Check main drain for clogs or visible issues

Equipment Check

  • Ensure pump is primed and running normally
  • Check pressure on the filter gauge
  • Backwash or clean cartridge filters as needed

  • Check return fittings for pressure and direction
